Stallion Nomination List Updated: April 26th 2025

SASKATCHEWAN BREEDERS
BARREL BONANZA
The SBRA promotes Barrel Racing of all ages and abilities through its divisonal system. We have promoted barrel horses and barrel racers on an individual basis however, we wanted to include Saskatchewan Breeders, primarily those that breed speed horses as well as those who breed performance horses in various disciplines. This program is a great showcase for Saskatchewan Stallion Owners to promote their breeding program and showcase the horses they have raised. The event features the offspring of nominated stallions 7 and under as well as stallions nominated into the program 7 and under.

Rules & Regulations
(Please be advised: Rules have been updated as of (Feb 8th, 2025)
It is the responsibility of both the Breeder and Contestant to read the following rules.
Breeders:
-
1. Nomination fees per breeder are: $200 for first stallion, $150.00 for each additional stallion. Deceased Stallions have a reduced nomination fee of $75.
-
Stallions must be nominated by the current stallion owner or lessee.
-
Registered stallions, including those with multiple owners, will be eligible providing one of the owners was/is a Saskatchewan resident, and the stallion was standing in Saskatchewan for part of the year.
-
Leased stallions would be eligible if they were leased by a Saskatchewan resident and were standing in Saskatchewan at the time the dam of the offspring was bred. Different leases each year would be required to nominate that stallion in order to qualify the offspring born the following year.
-
To verify proper ownership of leased stallions the following must be provided: photocopy of registration papers, breeding certificates, lease agreement and/or affidavits verifying such.
-
Offspring of nominated stallions must be 7 years and under at the time of Barrel Bonanza
-
The Barrel Bonanza will be conducted on an annual basis (i.e. Nomination of stallions)
-
Deadline for stallion nomination will be determined by Barrel Bonanza Director on a yearly basis.
-
Nomination fee must accompany the stallion nomination form and a copy of the stallion registration papers.
-
20% of stallion nomination fees will be used towards advertising for the stallion owners. Advertising for the stallion owner will be done at the discretion of the Barrel Bonanza committee. Every attempt will be made to get the most value for our dollar. This will include but not necessarily be limited to the following (advertised on the SBRA webpage, inclusion in the Finals Program, separate propaganda (brochures) available at finals).
-
Additional advertising will be done as per money available.
-
Stallions owned by a nominating ranch, and nominated into the Barrel Bonanza, as long as they meet the age and qualification requirements, will be eligible to compete in the Barrel Bonanza regardless of where the Stallion was born.
Contestants:
-
1. All horses, registered or grade, seven years of age and under off a nominated stallion would qualify with the following documentation – A. A photocopy of registration papers B. Grade horses will require a signed affidavit (located on contestant registration form). This needs to be signed by both the breeder and the contestant.
-
Any misrepresentation of horses will result in immediate dismissal of both the horse and rider
-
Deadline for all paperwork will be determined by the Barrel Bonanza Director. This is not a commitment but an aid in administration. You will be required to make your official entry on The Entry Date of the SBRA Finals
-
Entry Fee is $80.00 per horse.
-
The Barrel Bonanza will consist of two runs in the 3D format at the SBRA Finals.

A portion of this fee will be returned if the protester is proven to be correct.
